about

While making this album, I was thinking of song cycles: what would a song cycle for robots entail? Lots of noise and repetition, as it turns out, unsurprisingly, which is typically the assumption when it comes to machinery of all kinds.

It's also assumed in some circles that sentient AI is an inevitability, but what doesn't get discussed as much is their emotions, if they were to have them: what would their feelings be? What would compel them to write songs, and what would their ups, downs and contours sound like?

You know how the troubadours were consigned to a royal, and swore their undying love? Yes, that, but with the robot overlords as the royals – which the machines already are, effectively – and humanity as the bards, willingly/consciously or not.

As well as humans writing songs to robots, including possibly as gods of a sort, or literally. "The devotional hymnal of the new digital sentience," and so on.

I used a lot of virtual modular softwares on this one, as may be evident if you follow or participate in such things.

Enjoy, and as always, stay safe.
